Ugandan security forces say they concluded their search operations at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Makerere-Kavule and their premises in Kamwokya, Kampala, following reports of alleged unauthorized military drills. The search, conducted by the Uganda Police Force in collaboration with other security agencies, reportedly resulted in the recovery of several exhibits, which police say will be used as evidence.
The operation, which began following reports of unusual activity at the NUP locations, saw the Kamwokya search completed on February 21, and the Kavule headquarters search concluded on the afternoon of February 22.
“The search activities were completed as follows: the Kamwokya location was finished on February 21, while the search at the NUP headquarters in Kavule concluded today, February 22 afternoon. The Uganda Police Force reports that several exhibits were recovered from these premises and will be used as evidence. Further updates regarding this operation will be provided as necessary,” stated the Uganda Police Force in a statement on Saturday.
The NUP, through its secretary general, David Lewis Rubongoya, said that money was stolen during the police and military raid at their offices.
The nature of the recovered exhibits had not yet been disclosed by press time.
