Security analysts have expressed divergent views on a Global Peace Index report ranking Uganda as the second most peaceful country in the region after Tanzania.
The annual index measures the state of peace in 162 countries gauging the absence of violence and is based on levels of internal conflicts, militarization and safety and security in society.
Uganda is ranked 111th while Tanzania is ranked 74th out of the 162 countries.
Speaking to KFM, Bubuulo East MP, Simon Mulongo concurs with the report, saying Uganda has been able to maintain peace compared to her neighbors and is engaged in several peace keeping missions in the region.
However the shadow Minister for Internal Affairs, Muwanga Kivumbi says that the parameters used in this report are irrational, since none of them is met by Uganda.
