As the government plans to re-open schools in January, health officials are asking school heads to consider banning school assemblies as an additional measure to minimize the spread of COVID -19 among learners and teachers.
According to Dr. Isiah Chebrot, the divisional medical officer at the Kampala Capital City Authority, banning assemblies will help minimize physical interaction.
He particularly appeals to school administrators in Kampala because it is an infection hot spot.
