The Minister for higher education, John Chrysostom Muyingo has implored heads of schools across the country to start renovating their schools ahead of reopening next year in January.
According to Muyingo, they have been Inspecting a number of schools in preparation for reopening but a number of them are in a bad state since they have been abandoned.
He says all heads of schools should start renovating their schools and slashing bushy compounds as they prepare to reopen next year.
The Secretary-General of Uganda National Teacher’s Union(UNATU), Filbert Baguma has previously been putting pressure on the government to release capitation grants to enable schools to prepare for reopening but all in vain.
He indicated that a number of properties had been vandalized because security guards had abandoned their duties over non-payments.
