Government has finally delivered food to the refugees at Sango Bay refugee camp in Rakai district.
More than 6000 returnees and refugees at the camp had been without food supply for at least four months.
Government through the Office of the Prime Minister has delivered 2,000 bags of maize flour and 1,000 bags of beans to the camp to address the challenge of hunger that had hit the displaced community a few months ago.
According to Sergeant Ronald Kirunda the in charge of the camp’s general duties, they last received food supplies from government in February.
Kirunda says that some families had resorted to having just one meal a day.
One of the refugees, Molly Katete, a mother of five says that she is worried about the safety of her children at the camp because of lack of food and medication.
