Members of Parliament on the Finance committee have questioned the allocation of funds to support Savings and Credit Cooperatives.
The Ministry of Finance is seeking 16.5 billion shillings to, among other things, monitor the use of revolving funds to market SACCOs, as well as support SMEs with funds for onward lending.
However, Kioga MP, Anthony Okello and Nwoya Woman MP, Lily Adong noted that the funds have often been swindled by recipients, while some SACCOs have closed shop after receiving the money.
