The minister of State for Primary Education Rosemary Sseninde says the government is planning to grant aid to over 100 schools in the 2017/2018, in sub counties secondary schools.

The minister said this while appearing before parliaments committee on education and sports chaired by Mbale Woman MP Connie Galiwango to explain the rampant closure of private schools across the country.

She says that the move adopted by the ministry is intended to ensure compliance with minimum and basic requirements that would foster quality education.

The minister also said that the affected schools were closed after they failed to heed to the ministry’s call to observe standards.

Meanwhile Buliisa County MP Stephen Mukitale has challenged the minister, arguing that compliance should not only be slapped on private schools while several government aided schools continue to operate below standards.
