Angry residents have demolished a church building in Lira town accusing its pastor of interfering with the weather so his followers can pray without being disturbed by the rain.
The claim emerged after a local weatherman reportedly predicted heavy rain for March through early April but the residents have waited for rains in vain.
A group of youth armed with machetes, bows and arrows as well as axes then descended on Repentance and Holiness Church of Jesus Christ and demolished it.
Pastor Henry has however vowed not to vacate the area, saying he is being persecuted for telling the “truth”.
Lira Resident District Commissioner, Emmanuel Mwaka Lutukumoi, has condemned the act, warning against acts of lawlessness.
