The Inter – Religious Council has announced a temporarily ban on church fundraising activities as the country prepares for the 2016 polls.
Addressing a news conference this morning, the Arch Bishop of the Church of Uganda, Stanley Ntagali said that if such activities continue they will compromise the church.
He says they have also launched a number of national prayer programs for the country ahead of the elections.
Ntagali has also advised the youth to avoid being used by politicians during this time because it undermines their well-being and increases cases of violence.
The Council has also distanced itself from all religious leaders who have chosen to join active politics.
The archbishop has also sent out a condolence message to the Muslim community over the loss of yet another senior cleric who was gunned down by unknown people on Tuesday night in Bweyogerere in Wakiso district.
