Refugees repatriation should be durable- Congo

Reporter | April 28, 2014

Uganda and Congo must work together to ensure durable and dignified repatriation of refugees.

State minister for disaster Musa Ecweru says detailed modalities on how to facilitate voluntary repatriation of the refugees should be in place.

Ecweru says there should be proper sensitization and information passed on to the refugees before they are repatriated for informed decisions.

He made the remarks while meeting a delegation of Congolese officials led by interior minister Richard Muyej.

Uganda has over 184,000 Congolese refugees with about 35,000 of these scattered in Kampala.
