A new report shows that Uganda experienced a huge influx of refugees estimated at a total of 460,000 in the year 2014.
South Sudanese refugees accounted for than 100,000 while those from Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi and Kenya formed the smaller groups.
These findings have been released at the launch of the synthesis of conflict dynamics in refugee settlements in Uganda report.
The study was conducted by the department of religion and peace studies, Makerere University and funded by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the refugee settlements of Arua, Adjumani and Kiryandogo districts between the months of September and December.
According to Hillary Onek, the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, a refugee policy is yet to be launched, guided by this research, calling for more support from international organisations in addressing the refugee influx in Uganda.
