The ministry of health has finalized the clearing of sites for the reconstruction of nine hospitals.
The ministry’s public relations officer Rukia Nakamatte says that under the Uganda Health Systems Strengthening Project, clearing of the construction sites commenced last month and the whole exercise is expected to cost USD 59m.
Nakamatte says they handed over the hospitals to contractors last November and work is progressing well.
The nine district hospitals are Moroto Regional Referral Hospital, Mityana, Nebbi, Anaka, Entebbe, Kirydongo, Moyo, Nakaseke and Iganga.
She notes that an additional USD 90m has been sought to renovate another 11 hospitals and 27 health Center IVs across the country.
