Senior Makerere University Law Don Prof Onyango Oloka has lambasted the NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni for inviting Kenya’s deputy president on his campaign trail.
This comes days after opposition politicians in Uganda condemned the move by William Ruto to campaign for Museveni.
Prof Oloka describes president Museveni’s action as a desperate move, warning that besides interfering with internal politics, Ruto’s character and reputation should have been a point of concern.
Ruto was on Wednesday seen with president Museveni on campaign trail in Kapchorwa district where he asked residents to vote the NRM candidate because of the peace he has fostered in the country and region.
President Museveni has however defended Ruto’s visit saying it was a simple gesture meant to promote Pan Africanism.
Meanwhile, independent Presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi too has spoken out on Ruto’s controversial visit.
Mbabazi says Uganda is a sovereign state and should be left to handle her political affairs independently.
