Uganda prison authorities have rubbished claims by Kasese leaders that another Rwenzururu kingdom royal guard had died as a result of torture.

Kasese Woman Member of Parliament who also the Leader of Opposition, Winnie Kiiza says that although the hospital authorities have told them that 65 year old Yosam Bagheni  died of malaria, she is suspicious of what caused his death.

Rwenzururu Kingdom is now calling for an investigation into the cause of Bagheni’s death.

However Uganda Prison Spokesperson Frank Baine says medical reports clearly indicate that 65 year old Yosam Bagheni died after suffering from severe malaria.

Bagheni was one of the 150 suspects charged jointly with Rwezururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere with treason, murder, terrorism and aggravated robbery, crimes allegedly committed in Kasese district late last year.

The body of the deceased still lies at Jinja Hospital Mortuary but it is still unclear where he will be buried.
