President Yoweri Museveni challenged parents to instill religious values in their children saying it builds them morally.
The president was yesterday speaking at a ceremony to commemorate his 70th baptism anniversary at St Luke Kinoni Church of Uganda in Rwampara Mbarara.
“Bringing up children under religion builds them morally and young people should not undervalue it. Religious instructions enable you to navigate through life to know what is evil and good, to know what is
useful and useless. If I had no come here (church to be baptized) I don’t I would have become the President of Uganda,” said Mr Museveni.
According to the church records Museveni’s baptism number is 3769, having been baptized on August 3, 1947 when he was two years and 11 months old.
The president gave a Shs 200 million cheque to Mothers Union of Ankole Diocese.
He also gave a cheque of Shs 100 million to the diocese as contribution to Ankole Diocese Millennium Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation, Shs 10 million cash to St. Luke Church of Uganda, Kinoni Archdeaconry, and pledged Shs 50 million towards completion of the church building that is under reconstruction.
