President Yoweri Museveni is set to meet the Pope today.
The president is in Rome, Italy for a four day working visit, accompanied by the First Lady and Minister for Karamoja Affairs Janet Museveni.
He is also accompanied by a strong team representing different groups in Uganda including Kamuli district chairperson Salaam Musumba who is representing leaders of local governments.
During this working visit, President Museveni will meet Ugandans working in Italy as well as business leaders and heads of organizations based in Rome.
The president’s visit to Italy follows an invitation to the Pope to preside over the Golden Jubilee anniversary of the Uganda Martyrs’ that had been scheduled for October 18th but has been postponed indefinitely.
The Vatican is yet to confirm the Pope’s visit now expected in 201 or 2016
