President Yoweri Museveni has again taken a swipe at the West, accusing them of promoting homosexuality in Uganda.

While officially opening the Global Peace Conference in Munyonyo on Thursday afternoon, he said he would not sit by a praise some donors for spreading homosexuality. “Whenever we talk to our partners from other parts of the world…please that’s a private matter. You leave it. But they want to impose it on you. They want me to come up and simply say oyee, oyee…homosexuals oyee”, said the president.

Citing conflicts seen in the Middle East and places like DR Congo that he says are rooted in struggles over resources, Museveni said many conflict have arisen from the fight over scarce resources, advising global leaders to better manage these scarce resources to avoid clashes.

President Museveni also emphasized the need for development of science as it is crucial in resolving the conflict between nature and man.

He adds that peace is about empowering the human race to gain more knowledge so that the respective societies can tame nature.

At the same event the president has received the Global Peace Award for Uganda’s role in stabilizing the Great Lakes Region.

“I thank the organizers for giving me the Global Peace Award for Uganda’s role in stabilizing the Great Lakes Region. This recognition is for all Ugandans. I might lead the way, but Ugandans collectively have contributed to efforts of ensuring that we have a stable region”, said the president.
