President Yoweri Museveni is today expected to address BOAO Forum for the Asia Annual Conference in the Chinese City Island of Hainan in Sanya.
The President who is accompanied by the First Lady and Minister for Karamoja Affairs Janet Museveni arrived in China on Friday and was received at the Sanya Phoenix International Airport by the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhao Yali and Uganda’s Ambassador to China Charles Wagidoso among other officials.
He will give an address promoting Uganda’s tourism and investment potential.
The conference held in China’s Southern Hainan Province island, will be officially opened today by President Xi- Jinping, who is expected to a deliver a keynote address on “Asia’s New Future: Towards a Community of Common Destiny.”
The conference is also expected to finalise discussions about the creation of China-proposed Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investment, ahead of the March 31st deadline.
The two presidents will also later discuss the $8 billion Standard Gauge Railway under the Northern Corridor integration projects by the East African Community members.
Later the President will later be hosted together with other visiting heads of state to an official banquet, while the First Lady Janet Museveni will join other spouses to visit the nearby Biering Community.
During the working visit, the President will visit Tianjin city and hold a meeting with H.E Huang Xing, the acting Secretary to the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Mayor of Tiankin Municipal Peoples Government.
He will also visit the Tianjin Economic and Technology Development Industrial Park and the Tanggu Railway Station.
The President will during the course of his visit also address the business forum and meet with various investors in Beijing, address students at the China Foreign Affairs.
The President will wrap up his visit with a bilateral meeting with H.E Xi Jinping, the President of the Peoples Republic of China. Who will later host him to a welcome banquet.
