The Papal Nuncio to Uganda Monsignor Michael Blume has called on believers in Uganda to repent of all sin and obey the word of God.
Delivering Pope Francis’s lent message at a lent service held at parliament, Blume said asking for forgiveness would give way to peace, justice and reconciliation.
He further noted that sin is the root cause of conflict in the entire world and without repentance, peace and justice cannot prevail.
The pope also asked believers to use this period to reach out to the poor.
The service was attended by various ministers including Henry Muganwa Kajura(For Public Service), Jessica Alupo (Education aand Sports) and Maria Mutagamba (Tourism) as well as members of parliament. In a related development, the Papal Nuncio to Uganda Michael Blume has asked members of the Catholic Church to spiritually start preparing for the Pope’s visit. Pope Francis is slated to visit Uganda sometime this year. However, while Monsignor Blume says no confirmation of actual dates has been made, he hopes communication will come through soon. He says once this is clear serious preparations will get underway
