The police have warned against a planned demonstration by supporters of the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
The group reportedly plans to storm Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) offices challenging the indefinite suspension of mayoral nominations.
According to the electoral commission the exercise was suspended awaiting a directive from the minister for Kampala following the tabling before parliament of the KCCA amendment bill that could see the mayor elected by councilors instead.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says they have already deployed heavily around City Hall.

Enanga aslo warns all politicians organizing meetings in places allocated for presidential campaigns with an aim of disorganizing opponents’ rallies.
Addressing a news conference in Kampala on Sunday, he has cited out an incident recently where supporters clashed in Mukono, Kalungu among other places.
