The police have tasked telecom companies and the Uganda Communications Commission to explain the slow verification process of registered SIM cards.
Last year all telecom companies registered their customers in a move meant to fight cybercrime and other related criminal tendencies, but the verification process has since stalled.
Speaking to KFM, the police spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan Ibin Ssenkumbi says currently it is difficult to track criminals.
