Police at Besigye's home

A police officer who was dismissed on allegations of assaulting an employee of Mukwano Industries has dragged the Attorney General to the High Court seeking reinstatement.

ASP Daniel Asobasi Okumu formerly attached to Jinja road police station in his suit seeks orders reinstating him and payment of his salary since November 2013.

He contends that in September 2013 while on duty, he was instructed by the Officer in Charge of Jinja road police station to lead a team of officers to maintain law and order at Mukwano industries where a breach of peace had been reported.

They proceeded to Mukwano where they found a one Kasim Suuna who had caused chaos and arrested him.

He was however shocked when the police chief ordered their arrest on allegations that they had applied unnecessary force while arresting a suspect.

He argues that composition of the disciplinary committee that dismissed him including people with no authority made the hearing biased.
