The police have issued fresh terror alerts amid renewed threats from the Somali militants, Al Shabaab.
The Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba says they have received intelligence information from the Kenyan police that Al Shabaab terrorist are planning an attack within the East African region targeting Uganda.
It is against this background that the police have set up special security inspection teams that will carry out impromptu security checks in all public places including bars, restaurants, social gatherings, hotels, supermarket, taxi parks, and places of worship among others.
She says the operation starts tonight to ensure that the various premises adhere to the set security guidelines.
