The anti-riot police have fired tear gas and bullets in the air to disperse vendors at Busega Market, who are demonstrating this morning.
The vendors are protesting accusing their leaders of mishandling the monies collected in market dues.
They accuse the market leadership led by one Hasfa Senkungu of using personal receipts instead of those issued by KCCA in collecting market dues and are demanding for accountability.
They also say they have had the same leaders for the past 7 years and want elections held for fresh leadership.
The vendors are now asking for intervention of KCCA to help streamline issues of leadership in their market.
The police fired teargas to force the vendors to vacate the market as they became rowdy.
The market is now deserted and the police remains heavily deployed.
