The Joint Security task team has arrested a suspected leader and commander of the Uganda National Coalition for Change rebel group, KFM has learnt.

Addressing journalists at the police headquarters on Monday, police spokesperson Fred Enanga identified the rebel commander as Frank David Ssemogerere aka Colonel.

He says he will soon be arraigned in court and charged with a number of counts including murder, illegal possession of firearms, and treachery among others.

With his arrest, the number of arrested rebel suspects rises to 22.

The rebel group formed last year with the intention to overthrow the government has been on the police wanted list.

This follows the brutal attacks and murder of security personnel including four police officers and two LDUs in the districts of Mityana, Kassanda, Wakiso, and Kiboga.
