In Buwenge Town Council in Jinja district, the police are holding a 31-year old man for allegedly beating up his wife into coma, accusing her of taking their 4-year old child for immunization.
The Kiira North Police Officer in charge Crime Intelligence Investigations Department Henry Magoola has identified the suspect as Sadhi Luyima a supervisor at petrol city fuel station in Buwenge Town.
He says the woman is steadily recovering at Buwenge health centre where she was admitted.
Magoola adds that appropriate charges shall be determined after investigations are complete.
This comes just a day after two people were arrested by police in Kibuku district for allegedly sabotaging immunization programs.
The Bukedi region police spokesperson Sowali Kamulya said the suspects are Pentecostal Christians belonging to Kanyiriri church which has prevented its followers from going for the mass immunization against polio.
The suspects also discourage their followers from registering for national identification cards, handling money, using ATMs and talking on the phone.
