The Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has described the death of Bukomansimbi Member of Parliament Susan Namaganda as serious blow to the country.
He has described the late Namaganda as a vibrant legislator and a good role model to young people who will truly be missed.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister says his thoughts are with her family during this trying time.
Namaganda died on Friday morning at Nakasero Hospital following an accident that occurred along the Kampala-Masaka road.
Parliament will tomorrow hold a special sitting in her honor, before burial slated for Tuesday at Kigaayi Kisojjo village in Bukomansimbi district.
Meanwhile, the police in Mpigi district are hunting for the driver of a commuter taxi who escaped following an accident that claimed the life of a 31-year-old Woman member of Parliament for Bukomansimbi district, Susan Namaganda.
The accident was a head-on collision of MP’s Mark II and a taxi registration number UAU 822L at Mpanga forest reserve near Kalagala trading center along the Kampala – Masaka highway.
According to Katonga region police spokesperson, Phillip Mukasa, preliminary investigations indicate that the unidentified driver the omnibus was drunk and reckless.
He appeals to anyone with information about the where abouts of the suspect to contact police.
