The lack of statistical information is hindering economic transformation in many African countries.
This is according to the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who was officiating at the opening of the 10th African symposium on statistical development.
Rugunda says collection of reliable data is still slow which makes it difficult for policy makers to plan effectively to foster economic development.
He has underscored the need for leaders to come up with strategic policies to support accurate collection and storage of data.
