The People Power pressure group has mocked the ruling NRM for coming up with a youth pressure group which they say is a replica of their work.
According to the People Power spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, NRM is working under pressure and and trying to prove that they are still relevant. Ssenyonyi believes that this is the reason as to why they are trying to form their own youth group.
“Of course they are trying to clutch on straws and try to prove a point that they still have a bit of support. They continuously feel the volume and the pressure. They continuously feel the ‘kasukali’ that we are talking about,” Ssenyonyi reveals.
Much more, Ssenyonyi says that Ugandans feel and believe that they have had enough of the Museveni rule and therefore want a new president.
“Ugandans have moved on and they have had enough of the 34 years of Museveni’s rule. They want better and they want change,”he said.
Joel Ssenyonyi further says that NRM is panicking. He adds that the Youth group will not work further arguing that the youths of Uganda want employment and better service delivery.”
When you go to hospitals, mothers are sleeping on floors with their newly born babies, when you go to UPE, children are studying under trees, there is unemployment and the young people are saying that they have had enough,” he said.
It should be noted that last week, NRM formed a youth pressure group dubbed “Generation 7” to counter the people power movement.
This youth group has been subdivided into seven layers countrywide and will be reporting to the party secretariat.
