The parliamentary Education committee has advised Makerere University council to expedite the payment of lecturers’ salaries and allowances.
This comes at the lecturers continue to withhold students’ results for last semester citing delayed payment of their salaries.
The committee Chairperson Sylvia Namabidde says parliament cannot intervene before the university council deliberates on the matter.
She however warns that such simple issues should be addressed urgently, blaming the numerous strikes at the university on unresolved issues.
