Parliament is set to hold a special session in honor of the late Gen Adris Mustapha.
Gen. Mustafa a former vice president in Amin’s government died yesterday at Mulago hospital at the age of 91.
The cause of his death was not immediately clear, but he had previously suffered from diabetes, hypertension and prostate cancer, according to family members.
Adrisi’s daring acts included defying Amin in 1976 and ordering the release of about 26 Makerere University students, including the then Guild President Olara Otunnu, from incarceration at Makindye Military barracks for spearheading a demonstration on campus against government excesses.
Parliament spokesperson Hellen Kawesa says the late Mustafa’s body is to lie in state at Parliament from 8.00 am before the special session begins at 10.00 am. Meanwhile, President Museveni has contributed Shs 100m on behalf of State House to the funeral arrangements.
