Security checks at Parliament have been heightened in the wake of a breach last week where two youths sneaked in two pigs.
Robert Mayanja and Norman Tumuhimbise were arrested last Tuesday after they demonstrated at the car park, in the company of two pigs painted in yellow, over what they termed as increasing corruption and youth unemployment in the country.
Members of Parliament, staff of Parliament and President’s office, and members of the public were subjected to checks and registration at the main entrance with the delays causing long queues and traffic jam at Parliamentary Avenue.
However, Parliament’s spokesperson, Hellen Kaweesa says the new measures are aimed at avoiding future security breaches.
