The speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has directed the Minister of Disaster Preparedness to present a statement on the increasing cases of lightening in the country.
The directive comes hours after 13 more people sustained injuries after lightening struck a police radio communication antenna at Omoro Sub county headquarters, Alebtong district.
MP Kassiano Wadri told the house that many of the schools that have been recently designed do not have lightening conductors and tasked the government to explain the scenario.
MPs expressed concern that more people are falling victim to lightening and called for measures to address the situation before it gets out of hand.
The chief whip John Nasasira says a comprehensive statement will be issued on the matter.
Other cases of lightening have been reported in the districts of Mayuge, Namayingo, Kamwenge, Kabarole, Jinja and Kayunga in which a number of deaths and casualties were registered.
