Parliament’s Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs has summoned the minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs rtd Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire and the minister of Lands Betty Amongi to explain the progress of the Constitutional amendment.
Also summoned is the Attorney General over the same matter and they are expected to appear before the committee this morning.
This comes after the two weeks requested by the cabinet to review the controversial bill elapsed without any briefing according to the commit chair, Jacob Oboth.
The bill seeks to amend Article 26 of the Constitution, to pave way for government to acquire land in public interest, prior to compensation.
