Opposition has tabled a list of proposed reforms to the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2015 detailing among others the conditions for the appointment of key figures in the government.

Among the proposals is the establishment of an independent body or a commission to choose competent candidates to run the Electoral Commission and forward their names to the president for approval like is the case with the Judicial Service Commission.

They also want the special representation of the army in parliament done away with and that ministers become ex-officio.

They further want article 81, amended so that parliament has a panel of speakers to steer the house in the absence of the speaker and the deputy speaker.

In addition, they have proposed the establishment of a running mate to the president.
the other proposal is the reduction in the number of ministers to 21, and that ministers should be elected from persons who are eligible to become MPs but are not actually MPs.

They also want the amendment to ensure that the Inspector General of Police is at the rank of commissioner of police having served for 10 years.

The IGP should a seven-year, non-renewable term.
