Talks to have one opposition presidential candidate continue.
Another meeting between Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) flag Bearer Dr. Kiiza Besigye and independent Amama Mbabazi was held over the weekend.
In a statement, the Democratic Alliance says the talks happened under the auspices of the Kofi Annan Foundation in London, UK.
The leaders of the alliance say substantial progress in preparation for the 2016 general elections in Uganda has been made.
Efforts to have a joint candidate before nomination hit a dead end earlier after leaders failed to agree on who to front.
Meanwhile, the opposition Forum for Democratic Change has settled for 4th November as the nomination date for its presidential flag bearer Dr. Kiiza Besigye.
This comes after the Independent Electoral Commission rejected the party’s earlier request to have Besigye nominated on 3rd at 10am, a date that was booked by the NRM for nomintion of their sole candidate and incumbent Yoweri Museveni.
The Party’s Deputy Electoral Commission chairperson Michael Kabaziguruka says after nomination at 11am they will hold their first rally at Nakivubo stadium.
Meanwhile Kabaziguraka says the process of organizing the party primaries is underway despite most of the positions being decided through consensus.
