Officials from the Office of the Prime Minister together with several humanitarian agencies are visiting refugee camps to assess the actual needs of the displaced people.
Several Humanitarian agencies including Uganda Red Cross are in West Nile to carry out rapid assessment to establish among other things; the exact number of refugees from both South Sudan and DR Congo.
The Red Cross spokesperson Catherine Ntabade tells KFM that some of the areas to be visited include Elegu, Adjumani, Moyo, Koboko Arua, Kiryandongo and Rhino camp.
Hundreds of refugees have been crossing into Uganda from South Sudan and Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo wher fighting has been going on since last month.
In the DRC the fighing is between the governmnet forces and the Allied Democratic Forces, while in South Sudan the swords are drawn between President Salvar Kiir’s forces and forces loyal to his former deputy Riek Machar.
