One person has died this morning after being electrocuted during the ongoing Mukono municipality road reserve evictions along the Kampala- Jinja high way.
The Mukono central division chairperson Jamil Kakembo has identified the deceased as Martin Kibirige a resident of Kigombya village who owned a roadside kiosk.
He has condemned the act saying the eviction has been poorly handled by the concerned authorities.
According to Don Waswa the deceased’s land lord, he died as he attempted to rescue his children who were still sleeping at the time the demolition of structures started this morning.
He says Kibirige was rushed to Mukono health center IV but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police have now taken the deceased’s body to Kawolo hospital for postmortem.
Mukono municipality embarked on eviction of over 500 road reserve occupants following a directive from UNRA and ministry of works.
