One person has died and two others sustained serious injuries after a grenade exploded in Ntoroko District.
According to the PRO of Rwenzori region, Lydia Tumushabe, the incident happened in Rwangara Village in Kanaara Sub County.
She has identified the deceased as 25 year old Tumushabe Agaba and the two who are nursing injuries at Buhinga Referral hospital in Fort Portal as 23 year old Ahebwa Agaba and 6 year old Murungi Agaba.
Tumushabe adds that the trio tried to open a grenade that was left in the house by a police officer who had travelled to Jinja district for duty.
She says the policeman is to be charged because such equipment is not supposed to be kept in residential houses but rather handed over to police before attending to any call of duty.
