Police in Kampala have so far arrested one suspect in connection with the viral TikTok video in which a teenage girl was filmed being flogged for allegedly trying to “steal” one of her friends’ man. According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, they have arrested the prime suspect who invited the victim to her home.

“One person has today been arrested in connection to the viral video where a girl is seen being tortured. She has been identified as Kafta Queen ,18 and is the prime suspect that invited the victim to attend her birthday celebrations, only to start beating her up. Efforts are still on to have others arrested,” Owoyesigyire said in a tweet shared on Tuesday evening.

Police have revealed that the 14-year-old girl was kept in custody at a police station in Kawempe as she presented with signs of psychological torture and they were concerned she could inflict harm on herself. Owoyesigyire says they are hunting for the victim’s tormentors who were last seen in Kira division, Wakiso district.

In the video that was first posted on TikTok, a group of about three girls and a man are seen questioning the victim on allegations that she was trying to “steal” one of her friends’ man. Read more
