Omusinga palace to be reopened

Security personnel are set to vacate the Omusinga Wa Rwenzururu’s palace next week, following a series of meetings between security officials and other stake holders.

Since the attack on the palace in November last year, security operatives had branded it a crime scene, denied access to everyone including members of the royal family.

Speaking to KFM, Sowedi Mansuri, the Rwenzori East region police spokesperson said that they have finalized all investigations and the next step is to hand over the palace to the kingdoms authorities.

He however quickly adds that only the king and close members of the royal family will be allowed back to the palace for security reasons.

Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere and over 150 of his royal guards are currently in prison battling charges relating to terrorism, treason, murder and aggravated robbery.
