Opposition National Unity Platform leaders will convene next week to decide who to support or appoint their own candidate to contest run on the speakership race in the next parliament.

While addressing the media at the party’s head offices in Kamwokya, the deputy party president, John Nambeshe said after the retreat the party will officially unveil their candidate.

He said the party has the potential to take over the speakership position instead of being used by self-seeking politicians.

Meanwhile, Nambeshe said in the same meeting party officials will also discuss their next step of action to ensure that all the party members who are in detention are set free.
