NRM MPs vow to press on

Reporter | February 6, 2014

As the NRM Members of Parliament head to Kyankwanzi for their annual retreat, some legislators have vowed to stick to the passing of the Anti-homosexuality bill.

The bill was passed by Parliament last year but President Museveni says he needs more studies carried out on the bill before he can assent to it.

The 10-day retreat is expected to have researchers who will give presentations on whether homosexuality is an abnormality.

However, Ibanda North MP, Xavier Kyooma says the law is meant to rid society of the vice and NRM MPs should not back down from supporting the wish of the people to have this bill passed.

The NRM caucus retreat opens tomorrow at the Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi with debate on the controversial Β Anti-Homosexuality Bill and the party manifesto top on the agenda.
