The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leaders have pitched camp in Iganga district ahead of tomorrow’s by-election for the District Woman Member of Parliament.
The FDC deputy spokesperson Mr.Paul Mwiru tells KFM that the party is set to deploy its agents at all the polling centers to safe guard the votes for their candidate Mariam Naigaga.
He adds that some of the party’s senior officials are already in the field to give support to the agents.
Meanwhile, the chairperson of the ruling National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) electoral body Dr.Tanga Odoi also says the entire commission is already in Iganga to demonstrate to their agents how to guard their votes tomorrow.
The Electoral Commission says all is set for tomorrow’s by-election for the Iganga district woman member of parliament.
The Iganga District Returning Officer Ms. Mercy Ataho says all the materials to be used in the by-election are set for delivery to different polling stations.
She says campaigns for the five candidates in the race ended yesterday on a peaceful note.
Ataho asks the candidates and their supporters to observe the electoral laws as they cast their ballots tomorrow.
The candidates in the race are NRM’s Brenda Asinde, FDC’s Mariam Nantale, and independents; Asha Babirye, Olivia Kwagala and Aziza Kakerewe.
The by-election was organized following the death of the Iganga woman MP Hilati Kawudah in May this year.
