The Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament are not invited to the NRM retreat to be held at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.
According to the party deputy Secretary-General, Richard Todwong, the ruling National Resistance Movement has resolved to exclude all incumbent NRM MPs from the planned retreat.
Todwong says only about 200 newly elected MPs and another 43 NRM-leaning independents will attend the retreat.
He explains that the current MPs have been left out because parliament is busy debating pending bills and they also have to pass the budget and this cannot be done without the presence of the Speaker of Parliament or the Deputy.
The two-week retreat which will kick off on the 8th of this month at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi will be attended by 243 MPs and each of the MPs shall be required to test for the COVID-19 before heading to the venue.
