Members of the NRM Party caucus in Parliament have supported the government position on the controversial clause 9 of the Petroleum Exploration, Production and development Bill 2012.
This was agreed during the just concluded NRM caucus meeting that was chaired by President Museveni, who is also the chairman of the ruling party.
According to a source who attended the meeting, the matter on the controversial clause 9 of the oil bill, was put to a vote, and out of 144 members who attended the caucus only 7 opposed it, while one absconded.
This is the second time the president has met NRM MPs asking them to pass the controversial clause 9 of the petroleum exploration, production and development bill.
The meeting comes after the cabinet met yesterday and maintained their decision to recommit clause 9 of the bill that gives absolute powers of grating and revoking licenses from oil companies to the minister of energy.
The MPs who are opposed to the same clause however also say that they are not willing to give up their position.
