The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese Rt. Rev. Benon Magezi has died.

His death has been announced by Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu who says Bishop Magezi died yesterday after a short illness.

Bishop Magezi was consecrated and enthroned as Bishop on 8th January 2017 at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyasano, Rukungiri, and had recently launched a major fundraising campaign to expand the Cathedral and the church’s ministry in the Diocese.

He is survived by his wife and their five children.

Prior to his election as Bishop, he served as Diocesan Treasurer of North Kigezi Diocese, and in many parishes. He was ordained a deacon in December 1991 and a priest the following year.
