Internal relations expert, Ambassador Harold Achema has revealed that Uganda has always supported the Palestinian cause for independence.
His remark comes at a time, a group dubbed “Kenyans for Palestine” is pushing for solidarity and link with the East African Community member states to create awareness of the struggles of the Palestinians.
The group claims a lot of attention has been given to Afghanistan to the extent that countries like Uganda allowing to take in their evacuees after the Taliban take over.
Now speaking to KFM, Achema says much as there is no regional position on Palestine, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania have always supported their case.
Achema says Uganda in particular has supported all resolutions on this Arab state at the United Nations and have even hosted Yasser Arafat, the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization during the Idi Amin regime.
He meanwhile underscores the need for Palestine to be awarded its independence saying the fights with Israel are unnecessary.
