Efforts to rescue Ugandans on death row in China still hang in balance. This is after Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Kahinda Otafire told parliament that government had nothing to do about the situation.

Otafire who was updating parliament on the status of Ugandans held in China said they are negotiating with Chinese government to have those on life sentence repatriated.

The minister also says they are considering legal representation for these Ugandans in China, calling for patience from MPs because China is a sovereign state. However MPs were not satisfied with the news saying government had not done enough wondering to rescue its citizens.
