Government through the ministry of internal affairs is today starting a national validation exercise of all NGOs operating in the country.
Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center, the internal affairs minister Gen Jeje Odongo who says the exercise is aimed at cleaning up the NGO national register which has not been cleaned since 1989.
He says an ongoing verification exercise of the NGOs has revealed that out of 14207 operating in the country, only 3810 have valid permits.
